Buying badminton shoes is a lot like buying a racket–you can either buy good ones the first time, or you can waste your money until you finally get something of quality that will last you for years.

This guide has a lot of information about the shoes which i recommend but here is the short version

After using shoes of different companies, I can confidentially say that if you want comfort and quickness then go for Yonex shb 65 z ( even though Yonex released a new model but I don’t think it is worth the price, Check them on amazon USA / Amazon India )

Why I Choose Yonex SHB 65 Z

When i look for a shoe to buy their are two things i look for

  • Comfortability
  • Durability

Cushion:- In badminton cushioning is very important especially around the heel and this badminton shoe has tremendous heel stabilization which is very beneficial especially when you are playing singles

The YONEX Power Cushion absorbs shock then reverses the impact energy for smooth transfer into the next movement.

Even though i don’t trust companies statement easily in this shoes i certainly felt that something was pushing me under feet while jump smashes

This is what yonex is referring to as cushion+

Yonex released this shoe in 2019 but this video was shot in 2015 demonstrating power cushion by dropping an egg on it

You can imagine what kind of cushioning they have right now

It also have pores on the upper mesh which will keep your shoes from smelling which is not present in Aerus 3

There is support added between the heel and toe area at the sole to avoid twisting of shoes which is helpful in avoiding injuries

If you had any formal training then the most common place where your shoe will get damaged is the right side of non racket leg shoe which is because of constant dragging of a leg during footwork

But in this shoe, Yonex has provided extra guard onto this area to avoid damage as much as possible

If you are a casual player then this shoe can last very long

The main thing which I look for to decide whether a shoe is durable or not is by looking at its upper mesh

I always suggest selecting a shoe whose upper mesh do not get wrinkle when you fold it from toe side

Also if the upper side is made up of fabric then I would not recommend that shoe because it is then hard to get that shoe repaired after it gets torn by usage

Features to look in shoes

  • Heel stabilizer
  • Cushion
  • Grip of sole
  • The material of shoe for durability
  • Front shape of shoe for quick diagonal movement
